The county of KING

I was reading the other day, how King County will be changing it's logo from a crown to the image of Martin Luther King. It's taken the county ten years to do this. The county had decided changed the origin of "King" from a stuffy old vice president to one of the leaders of the civil rights movement. Seattle Times did an article on it....

I have mixed feelings about the logo change. It would be powerful to see his image everywhere- but at the same time, I think that the current logo will do. We could use the money saved to make this big change and do something worthwhile with it. The money that will be used to reprint business cards, letterhead, and the sides of buses could be used in better ways, like say, to fund programs Dr. King might have supported. Affordable housing, more funding for public schools. Just a thought....

The county of KING was what caught my attention. I was just out browsing around today looking for information on coolest kid in the us, and happened accross your blog. Although it's not completely related to coolest kid in the us, it certainly made me stop and ponder. Thanks for the great read Kerokonich...I'll be back.
